We first connected on Upward in July 2020 and began chatting. Stephen asked Jessica about her views on Salvation, to which she gave a detailed response that impressed him. Although Jessica found Stephen a bit creepy, they agreed to be friends. They talked every day, discussing both important and silly things for hours on end. In January 2021, Stephen told Jessica he wanted to ask her out, and they had their first video date that week. After a week, Stephen wrote to Jessica's parents, asking for permission to date her, which they granted. They continued to get to know each other and finally met in person in May 2021 when Stephen flew to NY. They spent a month together, and on June 11, 2021, Stephen proposed to Jessica, and they were married on July 1, 2023.
